Toddlers and meal time

So, I am going through trying different foods for my girls to eat. When they use to eat baby food, it was relatively easy but now that stage is over.

I can't seem to get them to eat veggies. I know how important a balanced diet is for them but they refuse to eat them.

Does anyone have any advice?

hi joi, thanks for sharing your blog. seeing what daycare feeds my daughter helps me with my own menu ideas. Here are some of her faves.
Breakfast: pancakes or french toast with bananas;
Lunch: grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato slice;chicken noodle soup with carrots;
dinner: ravioli or beef stew; basically, anything that i can boil that turns semi soft and is in a sauce will mask the veggie taste.Hope that helps.
ps your girls are sooo cute. -marian

Hi, I'm having the same troubles right now with Miss Nyla!!!
She has a good & hearty appetite but only for meats....
She loves anyhting with a sauce to it. I'm trying to introduce new breakfast choices right now the only thing she will eat is eggs and turkey bacon.
Nyla also is a huge fan of the chicken noodle soup.
I have to agree with venusenvie, try veggies with a sauce.

You can also blend your favorite veggies into a sauce and put them in a meat loaf or add V-8 to your meat loaf. Try making them into dipping items, don't be afraid of a ranch or hummus or blue cheese or something that you like that is dippable. Remember certain veggies should be steammed since they are still harder to digest (i.e. carrots).

If Connor has a hard time with something a really fun way is to get him involved in the process of preparation. Have the girls help you pull the stuff out of the fridge, wash it and put it on their plate. They can help carry it to their destination to sit and eat and you might be suprised how much more interested they are in at least TRYING something. The more involved with the food process the more likely he is to eat it.

The most important thing to remember is that they eat in phases, what ever they don't eat now they will eat later and what ever they are eating now, you can bet they won't at some point! Connor stopped eating eggs for the longest and is now requesting them. Just know they are getting the nutrients they need, they are healthy.

Hi Joi,

Thanks for creating this great blog! I love the pics of the girls! I am having the same problem; I can get Caleb to eat a tiny bit of broccoli or green beans, but not much more than that. I'm going to try the sauce suggestion that was posted here. Caleb also isn't a big meat eater; he likes ham and hot dogs, and turkey meat ONLY if it's in a sauce. I can't seem to get him interested in chicken, which is what we really eat!

Those are some really good ideas. I introduced them to ketchup so I may try the blending idea.
